Understanding the economics of healthcare and why costs are rising is crucial to finding solutions to one of the most critical issues facing this country today. Once we understand why healthcare costs are going up, we can determine which cost drivers we can influence and then, together, we can address those issues. To that end, BCBSA commissioned a series of studies on the drivers of healthcare costs. These studies -- most of which were conducted independently by respected experts in their field -- provide important insight into what is driving healthcare costs and how we can help keep quality healthcare affordable.
